2 Months!

Can’t believe its already been 2 months!

Jackson’s Stats:

11 lbs & 22 1/2 inches

He is growing like a weed. He is starting to chunk up nicely-he now has 3 rolls on his thighs! He has learned how to smile and does it alot which we LOVE! He has discovered his hands and can’t keep them out of his mouth. He gets mad when he can’t find them. His reflux is (cross our fingers) finally under control with

meds and special formula-he is such a happier baby and for that we are so grateful. We are having lots of tummy time lately as he is not quite pushing up to his chest yet which he should be. I know we said in our last post that he loves tummy time…not any more haha. But we are getting stronger! And he is almost holding up his head all on his own. We are loving every minute of this stage!

Weight: 8 lbs. 15 oz.

Length: 21 1/2 in.

What I have learned to do this month:

Focus on Mom and Dad’s faces

I love baths and tummy time (most of the time )

I rolled from my tummy to my back (maybe a fluke we don’t know but we were proud!)

I love my play mat and will lay and play for awhile

I occasionally sleep 5 hours at night and that makes my parents happy

When I sneeze I make the cutest coo’ing noise

My acid reflux is getting a little better thanks to Dr. Swisher and EXPENSIVE formula and meds

Growing like a weed!! Actually the Dr said he may be growing a little too much .

Jackson James. Born July 28th @ 1:30 PM. Our birthmother called that morning around 9 saying that her water had broke and that the were on their way to the hospital. We scrambled to get ready and to get the car packed. We missed his birth by 30 min but were so grate ful for our birthmother and her boyfriend who kept us informed of all the details. He was born healthy @ 6 lbs. 13 oz and 20 1/4 in long. He is a complete joy in our life and we re so grateful to have him in our family!!!

Seattle or Bust!

To celebrate the end of law school, we decided to take a trip to see our good friends Travis, Molly, and Liam who moved to Seattle after we moved to Lincoln. Three years is too long to go between seeing such good friends. Here are a few highlights and pictures from the trip:

1) Enjoying random people wishing Travis a happy birthday at the donut shop (And seeing two sleeping bums in one day ).

2) People watching at the Space Needle

3) Having a beautiful picnic lunch at Kerry Park

4) Seeing THE only fish in the fish ladder at the Locks

5) Experiencing Pike’s Market and watching Traci staring disgustingly at the gum wall

6) Enjoying watching Liam being amazed by all the fish at the aquarium

7) Having a New Mt. Dew vs. Throwback Mt. Dew taste test

8 ) Going to Gas Works Park to take pictures while fighting the rain and wind, seeing what appeared to be the aftermath of a bum fight and having the simple pleasure of watching people dress up in knight outfits and fight

9) Finding the Fremont Troll under the bridge and pretending it was eating Traci

10) Being a guest on Travis’ podcast, Netpicks

11) Having the best frozen turkey sandwich’s before going to Dick’s Drive-In, but after finding Bruce Lee’s grave site

12) Seeing a Mariners game and just laughing with our good friends!

13) Getting Starbucks at the birthplace of the company

We miss you guys already, thanks for a great trip and hope it doesn’t take another 3 years to see each other again!

Adoption in Progress.

This is what our profile on Parent Profiles looks like today. We never thought we would know what it would feel like to read the words “Adoption in Progress” and might I add it feels pretty good. Things are continuing to go well with our sweet birthmother. We are starting to prepare for Baby M in our home. We have the crib and changing table all set up. We are also preparing for Matthew’s graduation from law school next week. We are so excited this day has finally come and I am so very proud of him and all that he has accomplished. He really has worksed so hard over the past 3 years to be able to provide for our family. We are so excited for all the friends and family that will be here for Matthews special day. He will then have the “fun” task of getting down to business and studying for the bar but not before we head to SEATTLE to visit some of our very closest friends! Can’t wait to see you Travis, Molly and Liam. Pictures of Matthew’s graduation to come!!

EXCITING NEWS!

As we posted before, it has now been just over a year since we filed for adoption. We are almost done with our updated paper work so we can keep our profile current. We couldn’t help but think about the last year and wonder if in a year we will be in the same position, filling out more paper work. However, the year 2011 is going to be different for us because…

Just over a month ago we were contacted by a wonderful birthmother in Topeka, Kansas. She is so wonderful and such an answer to our prayers. Our social worker has met with her and we just made a trip down to Topeka to meet her! She is pregnant with a boy and due at the end of July! That will create some interesting dynamics with the bar exam at the same time, but we will make it all work because it is such a blessing in our lives!

We are sure many of you have questions and we are happy to answer as many as we can right now. We just want to thank everyone for their prayers, support, and encouraging words through this past couple of years. True friendship has shined through. We love you all!

It’s Been a Year

A year ago this month, we officially announced we had completed the paper work and other requirements for filing for adoption. It has been an interesting year with its up’s and down’s in the process. We have had many wonderful friends who have had children born into their families. They are moments of mixed emotion for us. We are so excited and happy for our friends and we love to spend time with their newest babies, but it provides us with a fresh reminder of what we don’t have in our life right now. Don’t get us wrong, we have been blessed so much in our lives that we have no room for complaint. We should be nothing but grateful for the life we have, but we still have our moments of weaknesses. Our year has been peppered with times of excitement from being contacted by birth mothers, and unfortunately, none of those contacts have lead to anything permanent. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the birth mothers who are facing hard decisions and hard experiences in life at this time and we hope you are guided in your decisions.

Thank you to all who have continued to support us through this time. We appeciate the effort so many have put in to help us be proactive in this adventure. Love you all.

Happy’Betes Day!

Today was Traci’s 14th anniversary of being diagnosed with Diabetes. She has taken such good care of herself and has not allowed herself to be held back by anything. I love her so much and am so proud with how hard she works to make sure she stays healthy. Yay for 14 years! Here is to 14 more!
