FINALLY!!
Saturday, March 6th, 2010Christmas Time in Jackson
Wednesday, December 30th, 2009This year we were able to head to Jackson for Christmas. It was Traci’s year to work Thanksgiving, so she had Christmas off and was able to arrange a week off. We were able to see a lot of family and packed a lot of fun into a short period of time. We started at Matt’s parents house and was able to go to St. Anthony to see his grandparents. It was good seeing them in their new home. It was funny to watch Grandma Robertson be so social with all the other residents and being so proud of her family. Grandpa Robertson was actually in a great condition. It was fun seeing Christie and grabbing a bite to eat with her after the visit. We were also able to visit Traci’s grandparents in Burley. It has been two years since we have seen them. It was fun to see Dwight and Kristain and Roger and Lavonne as well. Seeing everyone interact and seeing everyone’s reaction to Derek’s new baby was fun. Matt had fun there too, despite London not liking to hang out with him.
The first half of the week was with Matt’s family. Gretchen and Tobias were able to make it up from Arizona for the holidays. Matt did some portraits for them. It was fun seeing them because we haven’t seen Gretchen and Tobias since their wedding just over two years ago. Matt’s aunt and uncle, Sue and John, came up from Salt Lake to visit too. It has been a long time seeing everyone, so it was great to catch up with family.
The second part of the week was with the Tuckers. It was fun having everyone together. It was fun to play with our new niece Heidi and Derek and Nichole were willing to let us help with the baby. Christmas day started a little eventful for Jim. It was his week on call for Battalion Chief with the fire department. He hadn’t received a call yet, but had three on Christmas morning. It makes us grateful for the men and women who serve in the capacity of military, law enforcement, and fire fighting, and the sacrifices they and their families make. An interruption for a few hours is nothing compared to the service they render to the public. Thank you for all you do.
We were able to do the touristy thing and go on a sleigh ride on the elk refuge with Erick, the Tuckers family friend. Matthew took a lot of pictures while we were in Jackson. It was a great holiday with friends and family. Reminds us how lucky we are to have the family we have and the place we came from.
We love you all and hope to hear from you soon!

Announcement
Monday, December 28th, 2009We have officially made an announcement in our Christmas letter, but due to limited supplies, could only send out a limited amount. But we felt it is time to share with everyone some big news from the Mellor family.
About a year and a half ago we were told one word that would change our lives, Infertility. It is a word that no couple wants to hear. I had been diagnosed with severe form of poly cystic ovarian syndrome. There were few fertility treatment options being that my syndrome is so severe. They were a risky maneuver due to my diabetes and the risk of having multiple babies at one time. If I just had diabetes or just had infertility it maybe could haven been doable but the two together makes for a bad equation. After discussing it with my doctors, it was decided that for the health of me and my babies it would not be a wise option. We were devastated. Being a girl, I have always wanted to be a mom and we wanted to experience the joy that we see others around us feel because of their children. So after many prayers and heartfelt conversations we felt very prompted that we should adopt. So for the past few months, we have been working on the paper work for adoption through LDS Family Services. Our process for approval as adoptive parents is coming close to completed and should be officially done by March. Then the waiting begins to have a birth mother choose us to place their child with.
We have felt blessed for the support as we have been going through this process and appreciate the love and support our family has given. We are so grateful for those who have helped us along the way. We want to thank those who wrote such great letters to LDS Family Services on our behalf. We are very excited about this new endeavor in our lives. We hope that all of you will continue to keep us in your prayers that we may one day become parents. So here begins our adoption journey!
Snow Day!
Wednesday, December 9th, 2009For the last day and half it hasn’t stopped s
nowing! Everything in Lincoln has shut down even the schools and the University. A foot of snow has fallen, now you are all probably thinking why are 2 Wyoming grown kids shocked by this weather?? This city is paralyzed by that much snow, it stopped snowing this morning and we are still stuck at home because none of the side streets are clear and not to mention its FREEZING! The wind chill is -15 right now yuck. The wind is crazy out here and has drifted the snow like crazy. Matt has been home from school for 1 1/2 days because the university closed down and its his finals week-so he gets some extra study time
. I unfortunately had to work the past few nights, nurses don’t get snow days
. It took awhile to get to and from work but I made it! Some nurses had to stay at the hospital in empty patient rooms because it was too dangerous to drive home and they had to work the next day. Driving home from work this morning I saw several people getting stuck and was so impressed because the minute someone was stuck some stranger immediately stopped to assist-gotta love that midwestern kindness! The snow is beautiful though and has made us feel like we are at home again!
And it finally feels like Christmas! We hope all of you are doing well!

A Saturday Project & NEW MOON
Saturday, November 21st, 2009On Thursday night at midnight Leah, Megan, Ashley and I went to New Moon. We should in line outside in the stinkin’ COLD weather for 2 1/2 hours before they let us in the theater where we waited another 2 hours for the movie to start. We played card games and drank hot cocoa to stay warm. So I know some of you must be thinking you girls are crazy! Well yes we are but it was SO worth it and we got great seats!! The movie was great and surpassed my expectations for sure. It was a FUN girls night out-Thanks so much girls for a great night!
So I made this cute corkboard today. It was so quick and simple and turned out pretty good!!
Hope all is well with everyone!

Quilt
Saturday, October 24th, 2009

So I finally finished a project that I started
. Some of the girls in the ward all went and picked out fabric together and we all made rag quilts. I made a Husker one for Matthew because we all know how he loves his Huskers!
It has made me want to sew more and I am becoming addicted to cute fabric (bad for Matthew!)
Not too much new with us, Matthew is getting into the swing of getting ready to start studying hard for finals. We are enjoying the fall weather as much as we can. This is my MOST favorite time of year here in Lincoln. We hope you all are having a wonderful fall!
Its been awhile…
Wednesday, September 9th, 2009Hello Everyone!
It has been a long time since we have posted. I have set a new goal to do this more often, I promise!
School has started and is in full swing for Matthew. He is very busy between school and work but is finally settling in on his routine. We have taken several trips over the last month. Before school started we went to Nauvoo to see the church history sites there. What a spiritual and truly WONDERFUL experience. We enjoyed every minute of it. Next, we went down to Kansas City for a quick weekend trip to wish my cousin Justin farewell on his mission. We will miss him but know he will be such a wonderful missionary!! We had a great time there with family as always! Thanks again Uncle Gene and Aunt Marjean for another great weekend! Then this past weekend we flew to Florida to be there for our new niece’s blessing. It was so much fun to play on the beach and see where my brother and his wife live. We really enjoyed getting to spend time with my family and enjoy the new addition to the family. Thanks mom and dad for the great trip!! We have enjoyed our many trips but are glad to be back home for awhile and get settled back into to our routine! There are many pictures in the gallery of our recent trips!
We are looking forward to fall here in Nebraska. It is truely the best time of year here. We miss you all and hope to hear from you all soon!
An Update and Last Weekend in KC
Monday, July 27th, 2009Just a quick update and post on our last big visit to Kansas City this summer. First, Traci just passed her first year mark at the hospital and working as a nurse! She had her evaluation and got nothing but compliments! Just a couple more years and Traci can have the experience and the next step in the education to get to be what she has dreamed of being in nursing.
We just went down to Kansas City one last weekend this summer to spend time with the Caresia Clan, especially Justin as he prepares to leave for Ecuador for a two year mission. We drove down on Thursday night after Traci got off work so we could maximize our time with them. Because it was sunset and starting to get dark, the bugs were out in mass quantity. Such quantity that it sounded like it was raining on our windshield, but it was actually the bugs hitting our windshield. When we got to KC, Courtney, Marjean, and Justin were still up waiting for us and we all hung out for a bit. On Friday, we got up, chilled at the house, did a bit of shopping and then went to the Royals game on Friday night. Matt got to see the Royals pitcher that he has been wanting to see, Zach Greinke. And to top it off, the company Gene works for has tickets to a Royals suite, so he was able to snag those tickets for the game. Amazing seats, amazing pitching (until the rest of Royals didn’t perform
), and most importantly, amazing family. On Saturday they took us to downtown KC to the Crown Center. We walked around, saw a Lego’s exhibit, and ate at a place called Fritz’s. Fritz’s is a restaurant based on a train theme. A train even delivers your meal. They give out conductor hats to the kids, but as you can see in some of the pictures, we are all just kids at heart.
We have a busy few weeks ahead of us that will take us into the school year. This coming weekend Matthew will be in Detroit, then we will be in Nauvoo, then school will start and we will be in Florida before you know it! We hope everything is going well for every! Please keep in touch!
Love,
Matthew and Traci
Catch-Up
Saturday, July 4th, 2009It has been a while since we have made a post and we have been told to update. So here we are updating our blog. We have loaded some pictures over time, but haven’t told anyone what was going on. Over Memorial Day Weekend, we went down to Kansas City to see Gene, Marjean, Justin, and Courtney. It was a blast. Matt was still on crutches, but Justin and Courtney helped push him around on a wheel chair when we went to a mall. Justin had just previously come up to Lincoln to visit and helped take Matt around. It was a good time to be visiting with family. Jim and Patty came out for Traci’s birthday for a few days. They hadn’t been down to Kansas City in a long time, so we took them down and that is where Traci celebrated her birthday. It was a low key celebration, but it was a good time. We ate bbq in true Kansas City fashion for Traci’s birthday, had a great red velvet cake and just enjoyed Traci while she had some time off. Traci had to work on the 4th of July so Matt was going solo for activities. Matt went out to Seward, where he works, because it is called the 4th of July City of Nebraska. It is a small town celebration but on a larger scale (meaning it caters to larger numbers of people). The shuttle from the parking areas to the events were large tractors pulling a people carrier. Matt went to Seward with a couple of law school buddies who were also temporarily wifeless. When he returned from Seward, Matt attended a bbq at some local friends house. It was good times. Matthew and Traci rearranged their living room giving a more open feeling. Other than these things, everything is just chill with the Mellor’s. We are looking forward to heading to Kansas City again at the end of the month. We hope everything is going well with you! Keep in touch!!

Matthew’s Surgery
Saturday, May 30th, 2009I know a lot of you might be curious how Matthew’s surgery and recovery went and are going. Lets start from the beginning. Matthew’s surgery time got bumped back the day before because an emergency knee surgery came up and because of the nature of the surgery to the hips, it is hard for the doctor to put a time frame on it, so hip surgery is always last. But even when we got to the surgical center, we were sitting in the waiting room with the knee surgery patient that was suppose to go before him. Once they got him back and changed, they put the I.V. in the back of his hand, right where he didn’t want it. Matthew gets weirded out when he see’s I.V.’s in the back of hands, but the nurses went right for it. Anyway, they finally took him back for what turned out to be close to a 3 1/2 hour surgery. The repairs were less extensive than the doc originally anticipated, so Matthew didn’t have to wear the boots at night and only had to be on crutches for 3 weeks instead of 4. Matthew’s parents came out for the surgery and to help for a week afterwards. They were a huge help since Matthew wasn’t too mobile yet and helping run errands. Matthew is now just past the 3 week mark and is walking and putting weight on his leg now while using the crutches. His goal is to be done with the crutches in a couple of days and keep building strength from there. We will post a few pictures soon from the surgery and from Matthew’s recovery. Thank you for all your prayers and concern.
Love you all
Matthew and Traci
