Christmas Time in Jackson

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

This year we were able to head to Jackson for Christmas. It was Traci’s year to work Thanksgiving, so she had Christmas off and was able to arrange a week off. We were able to see a lot of family and packed a lot of fun into a short period of time. We started at Matt’s parents house and was able to go to St. Anthony to see his grandparents. It was good seeing them in their new home. It was funny to watch Grandma Robertson be so social with all the other residents and being so proud of her family. Grandpa Robertson was actually in a great condition. It was fun seeing Christie and grabbing a bite to eat with her after the visit. We were also able to visit Traci’s grandparents in Burley. It has been two years since we have seen them. It was fun to see Dwight and Kristain and Roger and Lavonne as well. Seeing everyone interact and seeing everyone’s reaction to Derek’s new baby was fun. Matt had fun there too, despite London not liking to hang out with him.

The first half of the week was with Matt’s family. Gretchen and Tobias were able to make it up from Arizona for the holidays. Matt did some portraits for them. It was fun seeing them because we haven’t seen Gretchen and Tobias since their wedding just over two years ago. Matt’s aunt and uncle, Sue and John, came up from Salt Lake to visit too. It has been a long time seeing everyone, so it was great to catch up with family.

The second part of the week was with the Tuckers. It was fun having everyone together. It was fun to play with our new niece Heidi and Derek and Nichole were willing to let us help with the baby. Christmas day started a little eventful for Jim. It was his week on call for Battalion Chief with the fire department. He hadn’t received a call yet, but had three on Christmas morning. It makes us grateful for the men and women who serve in the capacity of military, law enforcement, and fire fighting, and the sacrifices they and their families make. An interruption for a few hours is nothing compared to the service they render to the public. Thank you for all you do.

We were able to do the touristy thing and go on a sleigh ride on the elk refuge with Erick, the Tuckers family friend. Matthew took a lot of pictures while we were in Jackson. It was a great holiday with friends and family. Reminds us how lucky we are to have the family we have and the place we came from.

We love you all and hope to hear from you soon!
