We have officially made an announcement in our Christmas letter, but due to limited supplies, could only send out a limited amount. But we felt it is time to share with everyone some big news from the Mellor family.
About a year and a half ago we were told one word that would change our lives, Infertility. It is a word that no couple wants to hear. I had been diagnosed with severe form of poly cystic ovarian syndrome. There were few fertility treatment options being that my syndrome is so severe. They were a risky maneuver due to my diabetes and the risk of having multiple babies at one time. If I just had diabetes or just had infertility it maybe could haven been doable but the two together makes for a bad equation. After discussing it with my doctors, it was decided that for the health of me and my babies it would not be a wise option. We were devastated. Being a girl, I have always wanted to be a mom and we wanted to experience the joy that we see others around us feel because of their children. So after many prayers and heartfelt conversations we felt very prompted that we should adopt. So for the past few months, we have been working on the paper work for adoption through LDS Family Services. Our process for approval as adoptive parents is coming close to completed and should be officially done by March. Then the waiting begins to have a birth mother choose us to place their child with.
We have felt blessed for the support as we have been going through this process and appreciate the love and support our family has given. We are so grateful for those who have helped us along the way. We want to thank those who wrote such great letters to LDS Family Services on our behalf. We are very excited about this new endeavor in our lives. We hope that all of you will continue to keep us in your prayers that we may one day become parents. So here begins our adoption journey!
